My Story

It was my heartfelt desire to become a great dancer from the age of six when I saw a performance by a professional ballet company. I had the great privilege at age nine to be part of a performance when the Bolshoi Ballet came to Indiana. What an honor and a thrill….I did become a professional dancer until I was twenty-six, when I broke my foot. This ended my performance career.

Life has a way of presenting us with openings; when this heartfelt desire ended, I was presented with an exceptional opportunity. I met an extraordinary Master of Yoga from India and then embarked on an eighteen year immersion —day in and day out, in close proximity to the Master, I studied, practiced, and began to assimilate this amazing education. I continue my daily practices to this day to deepen my understanding and assimilation—practices for the mind, body, and for skill in life. I will always honor and miss my teacher and his successor.

You can find stories about my spiritual journey,, my performance path and work as a performance coach on my Youtube channel. https://www.youtube.com/@coachingforchampions.

After my dance career ended, I added extensive Iyengar yoga studies that included learning careful attention to alignment and the balanced use of muscle groups in postures as well as yoga sequences for various conditions. Then I began teaching and sharing this education in a way that meshed well with my other Yoga practices. It has now been nearly five decades on this amazing spiritual journey. I did pick up a credential as a life coach along the way and I am an avid practitioner of nonviolent communication. I love helping my students and clients in all these areas, when there is a need.

When I had a yoga studio in 1999, and while attending a major league baseball game that I had a vision of using all I knew from the whole of my experience to radically increase performance for these top tier athletes. And I was finding this to be true: A mixed martial artist increased his kick by six inches, a free diver beat the US record and another the world record. Baseball players increased batting averages and saved flagging careers. A cheerleader overcame fear of falling to get a medal and a swimmer came in third and second in the nation. A softball team went from nowhere to second in state. An amateur tennis player who was the CEO of a fortune 500 company, won more games after his back returned to equilibrium, and after working with Kamala, created an aparatus inspired by their sessions that is marketed around the world. And so it has gone.

Coaching for Champions

I created Coaching for Champions in 2009 and a Foundation Program called, “Working IN,” expressly for elite athletes, one of those rare individuals who is absolutely committed to mastering your body and, most importantly, your mind. Nothing less than peak performance will satisfy you.

You are subjected to physical, mental and emotional demands that the average person will never understand. You need unshakable personal power to meet these demands and to take on the sharks that always circle you in the water. The bounty hunters. The drug dealers. The vultures. You know who they are and the threats they pose to your career.

Sports are a huge for-profit industry. You are a pawn, valuable only when you bring in the bucks. When you stop bringing in the money, your owners, managers and fans will walk away.

The Working In Foundation Program is a comprehensive method I designed not only to attain peak performance but to care for YOU, the elite athlete, at every level of your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. You will learn the art and science of “Working IN!”

By Working IN I mean that, for you to succeed in a professional sports career, you have to master four essential skills. You have to self-evaluate and self-study. You have to self-manage and self-correct.

With forty years’ experience teaching and offering these time-proven tools, having helped professional athletes at every level of experience. No matter what your sport, this method “Working IN” will help you achieve your absolute best.

In 2016 I wrote a hands-on book for athletes. Working In; the elite athletes’ guide to working out from the inside. The book is available on Amazon and offers hands-on practices that I used with some clients who then reached the goals they wanted to reach. The book is designed for hands on use by those on a high performance track who seek to measurably increase performance and stay resilient for the long run.

These days I am available to support and inspire not only those on a performance track but others who aim high in what you do and are williing to do what it takes to get there.
